Saves The Day Picture
This Princeton, N.J., band got together when its members were 13, signed a label deal while still in high school, and went on to sell thousands of records, tour with Blink-182and Weezer, and land songs on the playlist of Los Angeles’ KROQ. Saves the Day’s new album, SOUND THE ALARM was released April 11, 2006 on Vagrant Records. Saves The Day’s album, In Reverie (released Sept. 16, 2003, on DreamWorks Records), finds their creativity in full flower. Singer-songwriter-guitarist Chris Conley’s lacerating, frequently existential lyrics provide sharp counterpoint to his sweet melodic sensibility as the band exercises their penchant for a variety of rock, punk and pop hooks.

Saves The Day

Somewhere under water maybe you could find my heart
cause thats where I threw it after you had torn it out
Three days ago
The doctor told me, every skyline and every night spent alone
Are tearing you apart.
Maybe I should get some help
Maybe I should fly out to montana
Ive heard its quite quiet way out past the electric lines
Out where no one will ever know my name
Oh, Ive had it now
Im walking down to your house
Im banging on the door
Please, please, please, mr. hox
Wont you tell your daughter Im all alone
And Im not handling this well
You never know just what you have
Until you get it yanked out of your chest
Well thats it
Im walking to the water
Im standing on the bank
Im staring at my reflection
Oh my god, I look pathetic tonight
Well, guess what
Im diving in this river
And Im fishing out my heart
And Im never gonna let you get your hands on this again.
